How to feel confident in the change room

As women, it can be hard to find the confidence to try on clothes in the change room. We often feel self-conscious and insecure about our body and how we look in certain items of clothing. With mirrors everywhere and bright lights, it can be easy to become overwhelmed.

But don’t worry!

Here are some tips to help you feel confident and beautiful in the change room.

Begin the day on a high note

Before you even head to the shops, take a minute and pick out an outfit that brings on all those "I'm looking incredible" vibes!

I normally put on my most comfy dress or skirt and blouse and pair it with sneakers. This helps me to start the day in a great mood knowing I am comfortable and feel good.

So start the day by showing off your best style in something comfy yet fabulous so when we hit the stores, you'll be feeling unstoppable.

Choose your room

Find a change room that you feel comfortable in.

If there is an option between a large communal change room or a smaller private one, pick the one that makes you feel more secure. Remember, no matter what size or shape you are, your opinion of yourself is most important which is why finding a space that makes you feel at ease will help boost your confidence while trying on clothes.

Take Your Time

When trying on clothes, take your time and relax.

Don’t rush yourself and try to get out of there as quickly as possible. Take a few deep breaths before you start trying on clothing and remind yourself that you look beautiful no matter what. Be mindful of your posture too! Standing up straight will make you appear more confident.

Be Honest with Yourself

It’s important to be honest with yourself when shopping for clothes.

Ask yourself if this is something that you would actually wear or if it is just a passing trend? If it doesn’t fit well then don’t waste your money on it as it won't do anything for your confidence. Also, think about what kind of message the clothing sends about who you are...is it really an accurate reflection?

Alternatively, if it does fit well and makes you feel good then go ahead and buy it!

Bring a friend or family member

If shopping alone isn’t quite your thing, then bring someone along with you.

Preferably someone who will give constructive criticism but also be supportive when needed. They can also provide insights into how different items look on different body shapes and sizes so that together, you can find the best fit possible. Remember to keep an open mind when they give their opinion as they may have found something flattering that you hadn't considered yet!

Another way to boost your confidence is by bringing someone with you who has a similar body type as yourself. Having someone there that looks like you can give you an extra boost of encouragement when feeling down about yourself or the clothes you’re trying on.

Try Different Styles & Sizes

It can be hard to find clothing that flatters your body type, but don’t give up!

Try out different styles and sizes until something feels right. Don't be afraid to experiment with colour and patterns. You might surprise yourself with how good certain items look on your body! Even if something doesn't look perfect right away, it might look better after altering or tailoring it.

Remember, fashion is all about expressing yourself so don't be afraid to get creative!

Affirmations

The last tip I want to share is one that I think helped me gain my confidence back the most.

Positive affirmations!

Before entering the changing room, take a few moments and tell yourself how beautiful and strong you are and remind yourself of all your amazing qualities both inside and out! You deserve love and respect which starts with giving it to yourself first!

Sometimes all it takes is taking a few minutes each day to practice self-love before getting dressed or entering the change room, so don’t underestimate its power!

It's important for us women to remember our worth regardless of what we might see in the mirror or hear from others around us.

Shopping for clothes should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or insecure but instead it should be an enjoyable experience where anyone can express themselves through fashion choices in whichever way they please!

After all, true beauty comes from within!

You are unique and beautiful in your own way and sometimes it just takes reminding ourselves of this fact before we enter into potentially uncomfortable situations such as trying on clothes in public spaces like dress change rooms.

I hope these tips will help you gain the confidence you need so you can enjoy shopping for new clothes without having any negative thoughts get in the way!

Happy styling!
