Stop worrying about your cellulite or muffin top

Are you worried about cellulite or your muffin top?

It's time we have that self-love chat...

I want to talk about something that weighs heavily on us - our insecurities with our bodies. And more specifically, I want to talk about cellulite and muffin tops, the extra little rolls I'm talking about when they just pop out of nowhere, when you least expect it and you're like, oh my gosh, why? Why do I have this? Or the sun hits your legs and you see your cellulite and you think, oh no, I shouldn't have worn the shorts.

Well, this chat is all about self-love and how we could start to love our bodies' insecurities, and all.

It's time we stop worrying about them.

And how do we do this?

The best thing I want to mention is that cellulite and muffin tops are totally normal. In fact, pretty much every woman has them, and every woman is feeling the same way. Just because you can't see it in someone else doesn't mean that they're not feeling the same way.

We're all in this boat together.

We're all feeling the same thing. We all have our inner spotlight that we are worried about what the world would think of us when in reality we're all feeling the same. So it's time that we actually start to stand up and embrace our curves, embrace our cellulite, embrace our muffin tops. Don't let the pursuit of chasing the perfect body stop you from enjoying your life.

Tips on how you can start to build confidence

Tip #1: Take a deep breath in and out and remind yourself that everyone has insecurities.

Just because you can't see them in someone else doesn't mean that they don't have their own insecurities! We are all going through this together. So relax and enjoy your day.

Tip #2: Dress for your body type.

When you feel good, you look oh so good. It's time to assess your wardrobe and start choosing clothes that fit you well, that are comfortable, and that makes you feel stylish.

Because your confidence will show even if you are not the most confident person in the room. Just by you feeling good in what you're wearing will speak so much louder than your actual voice. So we do want to avoid anything that's too tight or revealing, and we want to pick pieces that make us feel amazing. So go into your wardrobe, start removing pieces that don't make you feel good, and start finding pieces that do.

Tip #3: Focus on something positive about yourself.

A lot of the time we focus on what we don't have. We focus on the insecurities, the negative things about us. But I want you to start shifting the mindset. So the next time you think, oh my goodness, my muffin top is showing, oh no, my cellulite is so bad, please just STOP!

Rethink this thought...

And let's say instead, "oh, look how amazing my new skirt is" or "I'm so glad that I wore this new skirt today. It makes me feel amazing."

Who cares if your legs are out? Let your legs be seen. Let the cellulite be seen. Focus on something positive about yourself.

So often, we're always focused on the negatives, the thing that we hate about ourselves. But what if you drew energy towards the things that you do like about yourself? Do you have amazing eyes? Do you have really cool curves? Can you pull off some outfits because your curves are rocking them? Do you have really good skin? Do you have a lovely smile?

Anything about you that you like should be highlighted more often and focus more on. And if you don't know what you like about yourself, ask the people in your life closest to you. What do they see? Because you'll be so surprised by what others actually see from you.

Because we get so caught up in thinking and staring at the things that we don't like, we forget to see the things we do like.

I want you to find about three things that you like about yourself and start highlighting those three things. So for me, I love my hair. I love playing with my hair. I love trying different styles. So whenever I'm having a bad day, I'll always come back to doing my hair. I also really love lipsticks. I love playing with colourful lipsticks and colourful earrings.

Whenever I'm having one of those days, again, I'll draw attention upwards. So if I'm worried about my belly or I'm worried about my cellulite, I'll still rock the short skirts and I will add the fun earrings. I will add the bright lippy. I will curl my hair and style it up. Because that's what I like about myself.

So if I'm seeing that, the rest doesn't matter.

Tip #4: Believe it until you see it

The last one is my favourite one.

Believe it until you see it. This is the whole fake it till you make it. But I kind of like the language about this better, because the more that we believe in ourselves the more that we see it. I don't want you faking anything. I want you to really believe in yourself. So what you need to do is practice projecting confidence. And the more that you practice, the more that you do this and you project that outwards, the more that you'll actually start to see it and believe that you are confident.

So you do this by following these steps.

1. Start assessing your wardrobe and finding pieces that make you feel confident. Those pieces do the talking for you.

2. Make sure that you have eye contact with people. Start practicing eye contact. If you're someone who looks down and you shy away from conversations, start practicing looking up at people. And bonus, definitely smile. Smiling is the best way to start feeling good about yourself. Even if once a day you give yourself a smile in the mirror.

If you did that every single day for 30 days, eventually you'll naturally smile at yourself and you won't even know why you are.

We want to build habits.

We want to believe it,

and then we see it.

So whatever it is that you are worried about right now, I want you to start practicing and projecting confidence. Who is someone you admire? Is it a friend? Is it a sister? Is it someone online? Who do you admire that projects that confident energy? What does she do? How does she speak? What do you like about the way that she dresses or the way that she does life? And just start practicing.

Trying out some of those languages, those styles, trying on some of those accessories. Whatever it is, it's about believing that you can be that version and projecting that energy out. And if you start today, 30 days from now, I promise you that you will notice a huge difference and what does that cost you? A smile in the mirror for a second.

That's totally worth it to me :)

So the next time that you're stressed about your muffin top or your cellulite or anything of that matter, remind yourself that you are beautiful and go live your life.
